I read with continuing interest the article by Peter Michael in the Brisbane Courier Mail this week announcing the investigations a number of mining companies are progressing with in regards to a “Queensland jumbo Jet Workforce”. India’s Guatam Adani and GV Krishna Reddy…
along with Australia’s Clive Palmer are all been mentioned in dispatches as the heads of business looking into the approach.
The initiative hinges on the federal government’s willingness to replace individual 457 visa’s with bulk temporary agreements to bring labour into outback mines. Will this open the floodgates for cheap overseas labour or will this be a viable option to an ever increasing labour shortage onboard the Australian mining express?
