Australia is a good place to do business, foreign investment will not be discouraged by the mining tax and all is great in the resources world!
Well that’s the gist of the opinion provided by Canadian based Barrick Gold via their recent article on the Mining Australia Website (I added the last seven words to the scentence in case you didnt realise!). Ok, they mine gold not coal but positive comments about Australian resource development should always be embraced.
The battle against the mining tax may be headed to the high courts and whilst it may be a fact that mining faces significant productivity challenges at this time, its important to remember that we are talking about profit reduction and expansion / new mine postponement NOT deficits and closure.
