{ Why I Never Compromise When Recruiting }
03.02.12We’ve all done it. At some stage during our leadership career we’ve compromised with a hiring decision and then suffered the devastating consequences of this poor decision. If we’re absolutely honest with ourselves we were probably never happy at the outset that we had to compromise or that we even made this decision. Even so, we still did it.
In recruitment, I passionately believe that we should never compromise. Ultimately, compromise is an agreement that no leader is happy with, simply because they know that they have given away too much or received too little.
It’s now two years since we founded u&u and I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say that we’ll never compromise with a hiring decision for our firm. We also work very hard with u&u’s clients and candidates to ensure that they will never compromise either. If you honestly want to create or work in a high performance culture then I’d suggest that you never say this word again when making a recruitment decision.
u&u’s recent advertising campaign (http://www.brisbanenews.com.au/issues/867/index.html) on page 16 in the Brisbane News, which was created by the geniuses at GPY&R is u&u’s creative approach of demonstrating that if you don’t choose wisely when selecting the right candidate for a role then it can have devastating consequences and even lead to death. Ok maybe not your own death, but it could lead to the death of your team or organisation.
As history has shown, the worst enemy can come from within and if you want to build a winning culture with people that are high achievers, excellent performers, enthusiastic and team players then you must never, ever compromise again.
