A recent study conducted by a UK recruitment firm revealed that women were one third (33%) more likely to be more successful at gaining an interim assignment than men. Despite media reports of women executives encountering ‘glass ceilings’ in achieving senior level positions, female interim managers (high level specialists brought in for short term assignments) are bringing new skills and approaches, making them particularly attractive for short term roles.

Christine de Largy, Managing Director of Impact Executives, commented: “Although interim management is a male dominated industry, this study shows it is also an industry that is well suited to women. Impact Executives’ research,  conducted in partnership with Cubiks, showed that interim managers require a very different skill set from permanently employed executives; they need to hit the ground running, have excellent emotional intelligence to connect quickly with their client, and deliver results fast. Quite often we find that women candidates are extremely well qualified to engage with everyone around the organisation and deliver the requirements of the assignment.”
