Our Local Government client based in Far North Queensland, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. Starting ASAP, the role will be for an initial period of 3 months and will require relocation to the region, will travel and accommodation fully covered. The casual hourly rate range will be $75 to $90 plus super.
Key Responsibilities
This role provides end-to-end support across Council’s financial operations, with a strong emphasis on EOFY reporting, statutory compliance, and audit readiness. You will contribute to month-end and year-end processes including journals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation, while ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and asset register..
About You
Degree qualified in Accounting or Commerce;
CA / CPA qualified or working towards;
Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting requirements;
Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processes;
Comfortable working in a hands-on, high-volume environment (particularly EOFY);
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with non-finance stakeholders; and
Local government or public sector experience highly regarded but not essential.
