About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Air Freight Specialist to join a leading global logistics organisation on a three-month contract based in Alexandria. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight forwarding professional with strong air import and export experience who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the Freight Forwarding Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end air freight operations across multiple Australian regions, ensuring shipments are processed efficiently, compliantly and delivered to customers on time.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end air freight import and export operations across NSW, QLD, NT, WA and SA, with support for VIC as required ;
Coordinate cargo movements with airlines and Ground Handling Agents (GHA);
Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies and missing cargo issues;
Process job registrations, Customs reporting and shipment documentation;
Prepare invoices and manage supplier costs within required time frames;
Liaise with customers, overseas agents, customs brokers, airlines and internal stakeholders;
Prepare accurate quotations for import and export shipments;
Ensure all freight movements comply with company and regulatory requirements;
Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain regular communication with clients; and
Support operational teams across the broader freight forwarding division as required.
Requirements
Previous experience in air freight forwarding, with strong exposure to both imports and exports;
Mandatory experience using CargoWise and Newins systems;
Strong understanding of international freight forwarding operations and Customs processes;
The ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment ;
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities;
A proactive and solutions-focused approach;
Experience across sea freight operations will be highly regarded; and
Dangerous Goods handling experience or IATA qualifications will be advantageous.
