AO5 Social Media Officer
6-month contract (possible extension) | CBD-based | Hybrid working
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Social Media Officer (AO5) to join a dynamic government team and lead the development and delivery of social media presence from the ground up. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can combine strategy, content creation, and platform management to build engaging digital channels.
Working in a hybrid CBD environment, you’ll play a key role in establishing and growing the organisation’s social media footprint, creating high-quality content, and driving engagement across key platforms.
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement a social media presence from scratch, including strategy and content planning
Create, design, and publish engaging content across LinkedIn and Facebook
Manage day-to-day social media activity, including scheduling and performance monitoring
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate business objectives into compelling digital content
Monitor trends, insights, and performance to continuously improve engagement
What you’ll bring
Demonstrated experience building social media channels from the ground up;
Strong content creation and visual design skills (essential);
Proven ability managing LinkedIn and Facebook platforms in a professional context;
Strong written communication skills with an eye for engaging, audience-focused messaging; and
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
About you
You’re a proactive and creative social media specialist who enjoys building something new. You’re confident working autonomously, comfortable engaging with stakeholders, and capable of balancing strategy with execution. You have a strong eye for design and understand what makes content perform across social channels.
Additional information
Contract: 6 months with potential extension;
Location: CBD (hybrid working arrangement);
Level: AO4–AO5 equivalent candidates will be considered; and
Government experience: Desirable.
