About the Company
Our client is a large Queensland Government department delivering essential services across the state. They are seeking an experienced finance professional to join an established Strategic Investments and Enterprise Finance function.
The Opportunity
Working within the Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting Team, this role will provide financial reporting, analysis and advice across the department’s capital projects, budgets and asset portfolio.
Brisbane CBD location;
$79.17 per hour plus superannuation; and
Contract from 12 October 2026 to 26 February 2027, possibility of extension, pending business requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Prepare and analyse monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, briefing notes and presentations;
Provide advice on Capital Work-in-Progress, asset acquisitions and relevant accounting policies;
Coordinate the annual capital budget and revisions across internal records, Queensland Treasury Budget Papers and Tridata;
Contribute to capital management policies, procedures and internal financial controls; and
Develop collaborative relationships with business groups, senior management, Queensland Treasury, auditors and external service providers.
Required Experience
You will have experience in capital and asset accounting within a complex organisation, supported by sound knowledge of financial reporting requirements and accounting standards.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Experience preparing capital reports, reconciliations, budgets and financial analysis;
Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and non-current asset accounting requirements;
The ability to interpret and apply financial legislation, policies, guidelines and standards;
Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to senior stakeholders and auditors; and
Experience working collaboratively with finance teams, operational business areas and external stakeholders.
A relevant accounting degree and membership with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or MIPA status with the Institute of Public Accountants will be highly regarded.
