This is a prominent organisation dedicated to delivering critical infrastructure and digital technology solutions within the healthcare domain. They are currently expanding their internal technical capabilities to ensure long term stability and data continuity across vital health platforms, including initiatives supporting My Health Record.
Sitting within a high performing Systems Integration Team, you will report to the Technical Lead and play a pivotal role in transitioning critical API capabilities completely in house. Historically managed by external vendors, this work is being centralised as vendor engagements conclude at the end of the calendar year.
I’m looking for a Mid-Senior to Senior API Developer who can independently own this transition. You do not need to be a Principal Architect; rather, I need a strong, self reliant developer who loves getting into the code, working autonomously through a technical backlog and picking up vendor delivered solutions with minimal supervision.
About the Role
Lead the end to end knowledge transfer and technical transition of API portfolios from external vendors to the internal team;
Develop, enhance and maintain secure, scalable APIs and API Gateways;
Support ongoing digital healthcare integration initiatives, specifically focusing on API enhancements related to My Health Record connectivity;
Work autonomously to unpack, manage and execute against a structured technical backlog; and
Collaborate effectively with internal cloud specialists, technical specialists and senior developers to maintain integration stability.
Skills and Experience Required
Healthcare Domain Expertise: Strong familiarity with healthcare environments and integration standards is highly desired, including exposure to Cerner, Oracle Health, HL7 messaging protocols, or FHIR APIs;
API Development: Proven experience designing, developing and maintaining robust APIs and working within API Gateways;
Integration Stack: Strong familiarity with modern enterprise integration patterns. Exposure to cloud native environments (such as Azure Integration Services including Logic Apps, Functions, or APIM) is highly regarded;
Delivery Style: A proven track record of working independently, asking intelligent architectural questions and comfortably navigating legacy or vendor built codebases without needing constant supervision; and
Work Rights: Due to security and data compliance regulations, applicants must be permanent residents or citizens of Australia.
