The Chief Procurement Officer will lead the development of a modern procurement function that supports infrastructure delivery, operational services and strong commercial outcomes across the organisation.

Mackay Regional Council serves a community of more than 120,000 residents and manages assets valued at over $4 billion across one of Queensland’s most economically significant regional centres. The organisation operates within a dynamic environment focused on delivering infrastructure, services and long-term economic outcomes for the region.

This executive role reflects Council’s commitment to strengthening procurement as a strategic, value-adding capability. The Chief Procurement Officer will lead the development of a modern procurement function that supports infrastructure delivery, operational services and strong commercial outcomes across the organisation.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Chief Procurement Officer will lead the Contracts and Procurement program and play a key role in shaping Council’s commercial and procurement strategy.

You are a senior procurement leader who combines commercial acumen with the ability to lead change and influence across complex organisations.

Tertiary qualifications in business, logistics or supply chain management will be highly regarded, along with professional procurement accreditation.

This is a rare opportunity to establish and lead a modern procurement capability within one of Queensland’s most important regional councils.

You will play a central role in shaping how Council approaches procurement, supplier partnerships and commercial outcomes, contributing directly to the delivery of infrastructure, services and economic development across the Mackay region.
