Your new company is a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, providing sophisticated contract logistics and warehousing services to a diverse range of major clients.

As their Australian operations continue to grow, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the day-to-day management of a major retail contract within a large-scale 3PL warehouse environment.

Your new role:

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day warehouse and distribution operations for a major client account.

Working closely with Supervisors, Team Leaders and operational staff across multiple shifts, you'll remain hands-on while helping ensure the operation consistently delivers against contractual KPIs, SLAs and customer expectations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Warehouse Manager with all warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, inventory control, picking, packing, e-commerce fulfilment and dispatch;

  • Driving performance against key client KPIs including DIFOT, order accuracy, inventory integrity and turnaround times;

  • Ensuring contractual SLAs, operational standards and client expectations are consistently achieved;

  • Planning and allocating labour and resources to maximise productivity and efficiency;

  • Leading, coaching and developing Supervisors, Team Leaders and operational teams across multiple shifts;

  • Acting as a key operational contact for the client and maintaining proactive communication and strong service delivery;

  • Utilising WMS, RF scanning technology and operational reporting tools to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement;

  • Acting as the site's Train the Trainer and capability lead, supporting consistent operational and safety training across teams;

  • Supporting the development of high-potential employees and future frontline leaders;

  • Working closely with transport, client services and internal support functions to resolve operational issues promptly;

  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, accuracy, efficiency and cost reduction;

  • Ensuring compliance with WHS, Chain of Responsibility, environmental and company requirements;

  • Supporting investigations and corrective actions relating to safety, quality and service incidents; and

  • Assisting the Warehouse Manager with operational forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting.

Your background:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or 3PL environment, ideally with experience supervising operational teams, forklift licence desirable;

  • Experience working within a contract logistics environment and delivering against KPIs and SLAs highly regarded;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and motivate warehouse teams across multiple shifts;

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management and distribution processes;

  • Working knowledge of WMS, RF scanning technology and operational reporting systems;

  • Sound understanding of WHS, Chain of Responsibility and warehouse compliance requirements;

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build positive client relationships;

  • Excellent organisational, leadership and problem-solving capabilities;

  • Ability to analyse operational data and identify opportunities for improvement; and

  • A hands-on leadership style with a genuine focus on people, safety, service and continuous improvement.
