Chief Commercial Officer

A leading FMCG organisation with national scale is seeking a proven commercial executive to drive the full commercial agenda and elevate performance across all markets in Papua New Guinea. This role is suited to a commercially astute, hands-on operator who thrives in complex environments and wants to shape the next chapter of growth for a multi category portfolio.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Company Directors and Board, the Chief Commercial Officer is accountable for national commercial strategy, customer leadership, brand and category execution, revenue performance and the uplift of commercial capability across the country.
You will lead all commercial functions including Sales, Marketing, Category Management, RGM, PPA, Demand Planning, Trade and Channel Development, and Key Account Management.
You will manage a team of eight direct reports including the National Sales Manager, National Marketing Manager and Regional Managers.
Success will be measured through disciplined commercial governance, strong customer leadership, sustainable revenue growth, improved profitability and consistent execution nationwide.
You will:
Own and execute the national commercial strategy across beverages, ice cream, water, juice and emerging categories;
Lead annual business planning, pricing frameworks, investment governance and commercial performance;
Provide senior leadership across all sales channels and ensure disciplined execution nationwide;
Build and maintain senior relationships with key customers, wholesalers, distributors and strategic partners;
Oversee marketing, category management, brand execution and promotional planning;
Lead all NRM and PPA work to strengthen margin, protect pricing and improve mix;
Drive forecasting, demand planning and S and OP alignment with operations and supply chain;
Build commercial capability and lift leadership maturity across all sales teams;
Partner cross functionally with Operations, Finance, HR and Supply Chain to deliver strong commercial outcomes;
Conduct consistent branch visits, market checks and field coaching to ensure execution standards; and
Champion a culture of accountability, compliance and high performance.
You will have:
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in beverages or FMCG, ideally with exposure to emerging markets;
Demonstrated capability leading commercial strategy and hands-on execution across diverse markets;
Senior level negotiation experience with major retailers, distributors and partners;
Strong technical capability across sales, marketing, NRM, category, commercial analysis and PPA;
Experience managing geographically spread teams within challenging operating environments;
High emotional intelligence, cultural adaptability and the leadership presence required for PNG; and
Proven capability lifting organisational standards, talent, structure and commercial discipline.
