The Opportunity
Jacana Energy occupies a strategically important position within the Northern Territory’s economic and community landscape. As the Territory’s government-owned electricity retailer, the organisation sits at the intersection of customer affordability, economic development, energy transition and long-term energy security.
Reporting directly to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead the organisation through a period of significant opportunity and change. The role requires a leader capable of balancing strong commercial performance with public accountability, ensuring Jacana Energy continues to create long-term value for customers, shareholders and the broader Northern Territory community.
This appointment represents more than a traditional energy sector leadership opportunity. The Board is seeking an accomplished executive who has successfully led growth, transformation and organisational performance within complex, customer-focused and highly regulated environments.
While experience within energy markets will be valued, the Board is equally interested in leaders from adjacent sectors including utilities, infrastructure, transport, telecommunications, financial services and other industries where customer outcomes, commercial sustainability, government engagement and regulatory stewardship are critical to success.
The successful CEO will provide strategic leadership across organisational performance, customer experience, financial sustainability, stakeholder engagement and future market positioning. They will help shape Jacana Energy’s response to evolving market, regulatory and policy settings while ensuring the organisation remains agile, innovative and positioned for long-term success.
As the public face of Jacana Energy, you will foster constructive relationships across government, regulators, customers, industry stakeholders, employees and the community, building confidence in the organisation’s capability, purpose and future direction.
What Jacana Energy Offers
Jacana Energy plays a vital role in supporting the Northern Territory’s economic development, energy security and community outcomes.
This is a rare opportunity to lead an organisation with genuine strategic significance while shaping its future direction during a period of considerable transformation and opportunity.
You will work with an experienced Board, a committed workforce and a broad range of stakeholders to deliver outcomes that have lasting impact across the Territory.
The organisation offers the opportunity to influence strategy at the highest level, drive meaningful organisational change and leave a lasting legacy within one of Australia’s most dynamic jurisdictions.
What We’re Looking For
You are an accomplished CEO or senior executive with a track record of delivering sustainable commercial outcomes, leading organisational transformation and building high-performing cultures.
You bring strong commercial and financial acumen, coupled with the ability to operate effectively within complex stakeholder environments where customer expectations, regulatory obligations and broader community outcomes must be carefully balanced.
You have demonstrated success influencing Boards, governments, regulators and industry stakeholders and are recognised for your judgement, strategic thinking and ability to bring people together around a shared vision.
Most importantly, you will be an authentic and values-led leader who can inspire confidence, foster innovation, strengthen organisational capability and position Jacana Energy to continue creating enduring value for the Northern Territory.
Applications close Friday 12th June 2026.
