About Racing Queensland

Racing Queensland is the statutory body for Queensland's thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing codes. Queensland racing is a major sporting, economic and community ecosystem, contributing close to $2.5 billion in value added to the state economy, supporting approximately 14,500 full time equivalent jobs and attracting more than 800,000 racegoers each year across 119 licensed race clubs. More than half of the industry's value flows to regional towns and Racing Queensland's vision is to become the number one sporting industry in Queensland.

About the CEO Role

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer carries a dual mandate: to lead Racing Queensland as an effective, impartial and commercially sustainable statutory body and to convert the ambitious reform agenda flowing from The Next Lap into practical, sequenced and measurable delivery. The role spans commercial growth, major capital and infrastructure programs including the $200m Racing Future Fund, animal welfare, country racing and complex stakeholder relationships across government, the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission, clubs and participants.

About You

You are a contemporary Chief Executive or senior enterprise leader with direct experience in racing, wagering, sport, major events, statutory authorities or other sectors of comparable complexity. You have led meaningful transformation, reform or system improvement in scrutinised, stakeholder-rich environments and are comfortable working with government as a key stakeholder alongside Boards, regulators, industry participants and the broader community. You bring strong commercial acumen balanced with public interest judgement. You are credible without being captured by any one interest group, calm under scrutiny and genuinely at home engaging with people across metropolitan, provincial and country racing.

Why This Role Matters

This is a defining leadership opportunity for Queensland racing. The industry is moving through its most significant reform period in a generation and the next CEO will inherit an organisation with scale, history and deep community connection at a rare moment of renewal. The role calls for a leader who can honour the culture of racing, modernise the system around it and deliver reform in a way that strengthens confidence across government, industry and the broader Queensland community.

This is a Brisbane based role.
