The Role

As the Cyber Security Engineer you will lead Identity and Access Management (IDAM) and uplift security across Microsoft Entra Defender and Azure environments. You will implement security controls automate key processes enhance threat detection and support incident response while contributing to Essential Eight and ISM compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead IDAM governance across Microsoft Entra ID including provisioning access control and certification;

• Design and maintain zero trust identity policies including RBAC conditional access and PIM;

• Manage and optimise the Microsoft Defender suite and investigate alerts across cloud identity and endpoints;

• Support the SOC with improved detection rules threat hunting and incident response;

• Embed security controls across Azure CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code;

• Automate security workflows using PowerShell KQL and Logic Apps; and

• Maintain dashboards documentation and compliance alignment with Essential Eight and ISM.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• 3–5 years in cyber security engineering or cloud security operations;

• Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID Defender suite and Azure security controls;

• PowerShell scripting experience and SIEM/SOAR exposure including Sentinel;

• Knowledge of endpoint security vulnerability management and hardening; and

• Relevant Microsoft certifications including Security Operations Analyst or Azure Security Engineer and Identity and Access Administrator.

Desirable

• Experience in regulated or government environments;

• Exposure to incident response or threat intelligence; and

• ITIL 4 Foundation or Security+ or CISSP Foundation.
