BEDA – Brisbane Economic Development Agency | Data Analyst

Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) is seeking a commercially minded and analytically strong Data Analyst to join a newly formed Business Performance function in an enterprise-wide insights role.
 
This position supports multiple business areas across the organisation and reporting into senior leadership, this role is central to maintaining the integrity of BEDA’s economic methodologies and enterprise KPI frameworks, while delivering high-quality dashboards, scorecards and insights that inform strategy, investment, senior leadership and board-level reporting.
 
What You’ll Do:

  • Review and strengthen BEDA’s economic activity methodology;

  • Improve existing reporting, cleanse data and build enterprise dashboards;

  • Own and maintain the organisation-wide KPI framework;

  • Deliver trusted enterprise scorecards and quarterly reporting using Power BI;

  • Analyse internal, market and third-party data to identify trends and risks;

  • Translate complex data into clear insights for senior leadership and the Board;

  • Contribute to forecasting, planning and performance measurement;

  • Support organisation-wide research and economic insight initiatives;

  • Promote consistent metrics, definitions and data governance practices; and

  • Partner with stakeholders to support insight-led decision-making.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2–5 years’ experience in a data analyst or similar role, supported by tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. economics, data, statistics, finance or mathematics);

  • Proven ability to turn complex data into clear, practical insights for non-technical audiences, including leadership;

  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI (critical), Tableau, Dynamics 365 or similar, with strong Excel skills and working knowledge of SQL and / or Python or R;

  • Sound understanding of statistics, modelling and performance measurement, with experience working with economic, business or market data desirable;

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, integrity and governance;

  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with senior stakeholders;

  • Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines; and

  • Solutions-focused team contributor with strong problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative approach.
