A leading organisation within the heavy equipment and services sector is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to provide expert guidance on complex ER/IR matters, ensuring compliant, fair and consistent outcomes while supporting a high-performance, values-driven workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex employee relations cases, including investigations, grievances and disputes, ensuring thorough, timely and compliant resolution in line with legislation and internal policies;

  • Provide expert, solution-focused advice on workplace policies, industrial instruments and employment legislation to HR Business Partners, managers and senior leaders;

  • Partner closely with Legal Counsel, HR and business stakeholders to manage risk, support legal proceedings and deliver commercially balanced ER outcomes;

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employee representatives, supporting consultation processes, negotiations and preparation of clear briefing materials;

  • Identify emerging ER/IR trends, compliance risks and systemic issues, contributing to continuous improvement of frameworks, processes and practices; and

  • Support capability uplift across the business by coaching leaders and contributing to the delivery of the broader ER/IR strategy and a consistent, values-led approach.

Ideal Candidate & Requirements

A pragmatic and confident ER professional with strong judgement, influencing ability and investigative expertise. Experienced in complex ER case management, stakeholder engagement and providing balanced advice within large, regulated environments.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or related field (postgraduate qualifications in Employment Law or Workplace Relations desirable);

  • 5+ years’ experience in Employee Relations or Industrial Relations roles;

  • Proven experience managing complex ER/IR cases, workplace investigations and dispute resolution processes;

  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments, awards and compliance requirements;

  • Experience working collaboratively with Legal Counsel and managing sensitive or high-risk matters;

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with unions or employee representatives; and

  • Demonstrated coaching capability and experience supporting leadership capability uplift.
