We are partnering with a reputable Bank, as they seek out a Finance Manager to join their team. The Finance Manager will help oversee the financial, management and statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and a strong control environment. It also partners with the Financial Controller and CFO by delivering key financial insights to support decision-making.
 
What you’ll be doing

• Prepare the financial statements for the Annual Report for the Bank as well as any inputs required for the Group Consolidated Annual Report;

• Manage a team of two Accountants;

• Preparation of audit files and dealing with internal and external auditor queries;

• Assist with preparation of Board & Board Committee papers, as well as preparation of accounting memos on new standards or areas of reporting;

• Manage the consolidation and reconciliations of data to the GL from various sources needed for accurate and timely reporting;

• Manage intercompany settlements and related allocations from the Group Finance team;

• Oversee GL account maintenance including the recording of complex transactions and maintaining required changes to the GL framework;

• Work with the Group Tax team to assess the tax position of the bank for the purpose of the monthly tax journals and the annual consolidated tax return; and

• Review and assess the GST treatment of various bank transactions.

Other

• Deal with internal and external partners to ensure the quality and type of data provided is at the required level needed for the team’s statutory and regulatory reporting requirements; and

• Participate as subject matter expert in ad hoc projects including acquisition accounting, system implementation/changes, new accounting standards, accounting policy changes, and accounting for new transactions.

What we’re looking for

• Professional CPA/CA qualifications or equivalent;

• Ideally 5 years+ relevant work experience with exposure to financial control and performance reporting;

• Banking experience is essential;

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience combined with pragmatic, commercial exposure; and

• Working knowledge of the corporate regulatory environment, governance principles, corporate accountability and conduct frameworks and the process for managing risk.
