About the Role:
Join a prominent, high-growth Australian corporate operating across the Energy, Technology, and Infrastructure sectors. Known for an agile, high-performance culture, they empower their finance teams to drive real commercial value, challenge traditional processes, and support strategic portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to Senior Finance Leadership and managing a team of two, you will take full ownership of the Energy P&L and Balance Sheet. Acting as a key commercial partner to Executive Leadership, you will turn complex retail energy data, margins, and billing mechanics into strategic insights.
Drive the end-to-end month-end close for the Energy business unit, maintaining full integrity across P&Ls, balance sheet reconciliations, and technical accounting entries;
Deliver monthly executive reporting packs, actual vs. forecast variance analysis, state-level margin drivers, and operational volume/load metrics;
Partner closely with commercial, product, and operational teams on pricing strategies, wholesale position visibility, working capital management, and cash flow forecasting;
Act as the primary interface for external audit requirements and ensure compliance across energy industry regulatory frameworks; and
Lead, coach, and mentor two direct reports while proactively identifying opportunities to automate reporting, enhance billing controls, and streamline financial operations.
What We’re Looking For:
CA or CPA qualified;
Proven commercial or financial management background in Retail Energy and/or complex multi-service corporate environments;
Hands-on experience with month-end financial control, gross margin interrogation, unbilled retail revenue, and financial risk/derivatives;
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop direct reports in a fast-paced environment; and
Strong executive presence with the confidence to constructively challenge operational teams and present to C-suite stakeholders.
