The Queensland Government’s Olympic and Paralympic Games Office (OPGO) is seeking a highly skilled professional who can provided practical and effective risk management overlay for the unique and complexed game’s environment. With a strong ability to form collaborative relationships and guide ongoing improvements to support the successful delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
About the Opportunity
As the Games Risk Manager (AO8), you will play a critical role in supporting whole-of-Games coordination and oversight by bringing together information from across a diverse stakeholder environment to ensure whole of games risks are identified consolidated and managed, providing trusted advice to support effective decision-making.
You will work within a small, dynamic, high-performing and collaborative team who provide central oversight and system-level assurance within a decentralised but coordinated delivery ecosystem. You will manage and implement the risk management framework, and coordinate activities across the portfolio, including identifying and assessing emerging risks and issues. Analysing information, and preparing high-quality briefings, reports and insights for senior leaders and governance forums.
This role requires strong judgement and the ability to distinguish between matters requiring formal escalation and those that can be resolved through collaboration, communication and practical problem-solving. Success will rely on your ability to apply strong risk management principles, build trusted relationships and work with stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes.
About You
In addition to a genuine commitment to contributing to Brisbane 2032, you will bring a strong understanding of risk management principles and the ability to apply sound judgement in complex environments. Transferable skill sets in areas such as legal, advisory, governance, assurance, major events may represent a good match.
You will demonstrate:
A sound understanding of risk management best practice principles and the application of governance frameworks, with the ability to implement and manage these to support informed decision-making and effective outcomes;
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes and collaborate with diverse stakeholders;
High-level communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise and influential briefings, reports, dashboards and advice for senior leaders and governance forums;
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, interpret and synthesise complex information from multiple sources to identify key issues, trends and insights;
Experience leveraging data, reporting tools and systems to analyse information, support oversight and provide insights that enable informed decision-making; and
Sound judgement and the ability to assess issues, understand broader impacts and determine appropriate responses, including when matters require escalation.
