u&u Recruitment Partners are proud to partner with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) to appoint a General Manager – Aeromedical Services.
RFDS delivers essential aeromedical care across one of Australia’s most complex and geographically dispersed healthcare environments. This role sits at the intersection of clinical leadership, operations and strategy, ensuring services are safe, effective and aligned to organisational priorities.
The General Manager Aeromedical Services is accountable for service delivery, clinical outcomes, operational performance and growth of aeromedical services across Queensland, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and leading multidisciplinary clinical teams.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer – Clinical Service Delivery, you will lead a statewide aeromedical service with accountability for performance, workforce, quality and strategic direction.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading aeromedical service delivery across Queensland, ensuring safe and high-quality clinical outcomes;
Providing leadership to medical, nursing and operational teams across complex, remote environments;
Driving clinical governance, quality improvement and compliance outcomes;
Managing financial performance, budgets and resource allocation;
Leading workforce strategy, capability and engagement across a dispersed workforce;
Building relationships with Queensland Health, aviation partners and key stakeholders; and
Identifying and delivering service improvement, innovation and growth opportunities.
About You
You are ideally a clinically trained leader or a richly experienced health systems leader with experience in aeromedical, retrieval or remote healthcare environments, currently operating at a senior level and looking to broaden your impact across a statewide service.
You will bring:
A clinical qualification is highly regarded, with strong consideration also given to senior health systems leaders with extensive operational and leadership experience ideally obtained within an aeromedical setting;
Strong evidence of leading at the forefront of change;
Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary clinical teams and service delivery outcomes;
Strong understanding of clinical governance, safety and quality frameworks; and
Commercial and operational awareness, including exposure to service performance, funding or resource management.
