This is an opportunity to define the future of Artificial Intelligence at one of Queensland’s largest and most diverse organisations.
u&u Recruitment Partners are proud to be partnering with one of our key clients to recruit an inaugural General Manager – Artificial Intelligence to establish and lead an enterprise AI function, executing the AI strategy, building organisational capability and driving responsible AI adoption at scale.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to move beyond experimentation and help determine where AI can create genuine, measurable value for the organisations people, customers and communities.
This is a career-defining opportunity for an AI leader who wants to build something significant.
The opportunity to shape the future:
As the inaugural General Manager – Artificial Intelligence, you will establish the enterprise AI function and provide strategic leadership across AI strategy, innovation, governance, investment and value realisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Execute the organisation’s AI strategy and roadmap, translating its strategic direction into enterprise-wide adoption, measurable outcomes and sustainable value;
Build the Enterprise AI Office from the ground up, establishing the operating model, capability, priorities and ways of working required to scale AI responsibly;
Identify and deliver high-value AI opportunities across health, aged care, community services and corporate functions, moving from pilots and experimentation into measurable enterprise outcomes;
Embed and evolve the organisation’s AI governance, risk, ethics and assurance frameworks, ensuring AI continues to be adopted safely, responsibly and in alignment with organisational values;
Lead enterprise-wide decisions around AI investment, prioritisation and value realisation, ensuring investment is focused on initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes; and
Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, senior leaders and Boards to build AI confidence, understanding and adoption across the organisation.
What makes a difference for the organisation?
You will be an experienced AI, innovation or technology leader who can combine strategic vision with commercial pragmatism and the ability to execute.
The successful candidate will bring:
Executive or senior leadership experience across Artificial Intelligence, innovation, digital transformation, emerging technology or enterprise technology strategy;
A proven ability to develop and execute strategy and turn emerging technology opportunities into measurable organisational value;
Experience establishing or leading AI functions, transformation portfolios or enterprise innovation capabilities;
Strong understanding of responsible AI, governance, risk, ethics and assurance, with the ability to balance innovation with the requirements of a complex and highly regulated environment;
The credibility and influence to engage with Executives, Boards and senior stakeholders, bringing diverse business areas on the AI journey; and
The ability to translate complex AI concepts into practical business outcomes and inspire confidence across technical and non-technical audiences.
Why this opportunity is different:
The successful candidate won't be inheriting an established AI function and simply optimising it. They will build it.
This is an opportunity to define the strategy, establish the operating model, shape the governance, build the capability and determine where the organisation invests its AI ambition.
