About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and being as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role provides visionary leadership across Engineers Australia’s Finance & Risk functions. You’ll drive organisational efficiency, enhance financial performance, and enable data-driven decisions that support EA’s strategic goals.
This is a pivotal opportunity to shape the future of a respected national organisation — acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO, Board, and Executive Leadership Team while fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and collaboration.
You will:
Provide strategic financial leadership and partner with the Executive and Senior Leadership Team to shape long-term plans, budgets, and investment decisions;
Deliver accurate, insightful financial reporting and executive updates to the Board and Audit & Risk Committee that inform decisions and drive results;
Lead internal audit engagement to strengthen risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation;
Champion statutory compliance and governance for all financial, audit, and taxation matters;
Own and embed Enterprise Risk and Quality Management Frameworks across operations, ensuring robust controls and accountability;
Establish and monitor risk appetite, tolerances, and controls in partnership with the Board, ARC, CEO, and Executive Team;
Drive financial readiness for business continuity, safeguarding liquidity and resilience;
Lead negotiations for banking, taxation, investment, and insurance services to optimise organisational outcomes;
Develop tools and systems that deliver critical financial, risk, and operational insights to the Board and leadership teams; and
Build a high-performing, inclusive Finance & Risk team and foster a positive, collaborative culture across EA.
Location
Engineers Australia is open to this role being based in any of their offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra or Brisbane.
About you
This role suits a decisive senior finance leader who can operate in a fast paced, future looking environment, partner closely with executives, and deliver an ambitious strategic plan.
To succeed, you will bring:
Extensive experience in financial leadership across controls, tax, risk management, treasury, FP&A, and commercial finance;
A proven record of leading strategic initiatives and challenging the status quo within complex, fast-growing organisations;
Experience working with and reporting to a Board within a complex corporate or membership-based, for-purpose organisation;
A collaborative and influential approach, contributing effectively at the executive level to shape both strategy and delivery; and
A values-led leadership style, with a demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams that balance integrity, innovation, and commercial success.
