The Opportunity
u&u Recruitment Partners are proud to partner exclusively with Sunshine Coast Council to appoint a newly created Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO).
Serving one of Australia’s most dynamic and rapidly growing regions, Sunshine Coast Council manages a diverse and expanding portfolio of strategic initiatives, transformation programs and major capital investments. As the scale, complexity and interdependency of delivery continues to increase, Council is establishing a central Enterprise PMO capability to strengthen portfolio governance, provide enterprise level oversight and continue to build on maturity across the organisation.
This is a foundational leadership role. The Head of EPMO will establish and lead the function from inception — defining frameworks, governance and operating discipline that will underpin how Council prioritises, governs and delivers its most critical initiatives into the future.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, Business Transformation and Performance, the Head of EPMO will establish, lead and mature a small, high performing team responsible for enterprise portfolio oversight, program governance and delivery assurance.
Key responsibilities include:
Establishing and embedding an enterprise wide PMO framework, governance model and delivery standards;
Providing clear portfolio visibility, executive insight and strategic reporting across Council’s program landscape;
Building on organisational PMO maturity, capability and consistency;
Embedding common methodologies, reporting disciplines and assurance practices across delivery functions;
Supporting executive leadership with portfolio prioritisation, investment governance and decision making insight;
Building strong collaboration across directorates delivering complex, cross functional programs and initiatives; and
Building and leading the EPMO team, developing capability and fostering enterprise alignment.
About You
This role requires a leader who understands what it takes to successfully embed enterprise PMO capability in a large, complex organisation and who can operate with confidence at executive level.
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience establishing, leading or transforming an enterprise PMO / EPMO;
Deep expertise in portfolio governance, program oversight and PMO frameworks at enterprise scale;
Experience operating in organisations delivering large, complex and multi year program portfolios, including infrastructure and capital initiatives;
A proven track record of building PMO maturity and embedding consistent, sustainable delivery disciplines;
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence Directors and senior stakeholders; and
Leadership capability to build, develop and lead a high performing PMO team.
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to build an enterprise capability from the ground up within one of Queensland’s most progressive and future focused councils.
You will play a central role in shaping how the organisation governs, prioritises and delivers its most significant initiatives, while contributing directly to the continued growth and liveability of the Sunshine Coast region.
