u&u Recruitment Partners are proud to partner with a leading national NFP professional membership organisation that plays a pivotal role in advancing its profession, supporting its members and shaping standards of excellence across Australia.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal leader to join the organisation as Head of Legal on a 6-month fixed-term basis, with potential for extension. The role can be based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

This is a high-impact leadership role. You will act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and Board, providing strategic legal guidance across governance, regulation, professional standards, member conduct and organisational risk.
You will play a key role in strengthening legal frameworks, supporting sound decision-making and helping shape the future direction of a respected national organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead legal integrity of professional standards & member regulation;

  • Oversee complaints, investigations and disciplinary processes;

  • Work closely with CEO and Executives to drive legal strategy;

  • Advise on complex constitutional and regulatory matters; and

  • Ensure legal and reputational risks are effectively managed.

Experience working within a professional association, NFP, regulator, statutory authority or similarly regulated environment will be highly regarded. Ideal with candidates will have 8+ years’ PQE from a major firm and a similar senior level in-house role.
