A rare opportunity has arisen to join a high-growth financial services organisation based in Melbourne as its new Head of Legal, Regulatory.

Reporting to the General Manager – Legal, this is a senior leadership role within a high-performing Legal, Risk & Governance function. The role has x 2 direct legal reports.

You will provide strategic legal oversight across the Group, with a particular focus on regulatory engagement, investigations, litigation, and enforcement matters. You will also play a key role in shaping legal strategy, building team capability, and supporting the organisation’s continued growth in a complex regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory & Litigation:

  • Lead the legal response to regulatory investigations, enforceable undertakings, and breach reporting;

  • Manage complex litigation and dispute resolution, including regulator-driven matters and complaints; and

  • Act as the key interface with regulators and external counsel.

Commercial & Operational Support:

  • Oversee and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements across platform, distribution, investment and technology;

  • Support disclosure documentation and legal frameworks; and

  • Partner closely with Risk and Compliance to strengthen enterprise-wide risk management.

About You:

  • 8+ years’ PQE with strong financial services regulatory expertise;

  • Proven experience in ASIC/APRA engagement, investigations, and enforcement matters;

  • Background in financial services or superannuation is ideal; and

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, either in-house or from private practice.
