About the Company

Our client is an established, family-owned Australian business operating within a fast-paced distribution and logistics environment.

With a strong reputation in its market and a committed workforce, the business is looking to strengthen its people function and is seeking an experienced HR Manager who can bring structure, consistency and a pragmatic approach to HR.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR People Partner to take ownership of the people function within an established and successful Australian owned business. Partner closely with senior leadership while remaining hands-on across all aspects of HR.
 
About the Role

This is a standalone HR Manager position responsible for supporting the business across the full employee lifecycle.

Highly visible across the organisation, you will work closely with leaders and employees across operational, warehouse, logistics and corporate functions. You will provide practical HR advice while strengthening people processes, building manager capability and supporting the continued growth of the business.
 
Key responsibilities

  • Be the HR matter-expert; partnering with senior leaders and managers on all people-related matters;

  • Manage employee relations including performance, conduct, grievances and workplace investigations;

  • Coach managers to confidently manage people and performance matters;

  • Review and strengthen HR policies, processes and frameworks;

  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle activities;

  • Support workforce planning, retention and succession initiatives;

  • Drive performance, capability and employee development initiatives;

  • Provide guidance across employment legislation, Modern Awards and HR compliance;

  • Partner with payroll and finance on employee-related matters;

  • Monitor HR metrics and identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, retention and workforce effectiveness;

  • Develop workforce planning, succession planning and talent strategies to support business growth;

  • Providing expert guidance to business leaders on employee relations, and legislative compliance;

  • Manage workers compensation and return-to-work programs;

  • Leading, mentoring and developing the HR team to deliver consistent, high-impact outcomes; and

  • Utilise HR data and insights to support strategic decision-making.

About You

You’re a confident, well-spoken, engaging and commercially minded HR generalist who enjoys being close to the business and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same.

You will bring

  • Significant experience in a HR Manager or HR Business Partner position within logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, FMCG or another operational environment will be highly regarded;

  • Strong employee relations experience within a blue-collar environment;

  • Proven ability to influence and partner with operational stakeholders;

  • The ability to work autonomously in a hands-on environment and manage competing priorities;

  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and HR best practice;

  • Exceptional communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills;

  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial acumen;

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline; and

  • 5 days a week in the office with flexibility around start and finish time.
