About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to shape and embed a national people function from the ground up within a purpose-driven organisation making a real impact. As the first dedicated HR professional, you’ll work closely with state-based entities and senior leaders to establish fit-for-purpose frameworks, uplift leadership capability and create consistency across people, performance, safety and culture. This is a hands-on, influential role for someone who thrives on building, partnering and driving meaningful change through strong stakeholder engagement.
This role has national impact and can be based in either Brisbane or Sydney.
Key responsibilities will include:
Establishing and embedding end-to-end HR frameworks, templates and processes and rolling these out across multiple state-based entities;
Acting as a trusted, approachable point of contact for employees and leaders, providing practical guidance across employee relations matters;
Designing and implementing performance management, development and succession planning frameworks that support capability uplift;
Coaching and advising leaders to strengthen people leadership, accountability and performance conversations using a person-centred approach;
Developing and maintaining employment contracts, onboarding, induction and offboarding processes;
Lead the sourcing and implementation of a fit-for-purpose HRIS platform;
Drive national EBA consultation and negotiation processes; and
Overseeing WHS frameworks and systems, including policy development, compliance, workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes.
About You
You’re a people-first HR professional who brings both heart and rigour to your work. You’re comfortable building trust at all levels, thrive in environments where things are still taking shape, and genuinely care about creating practical, inclusive people frameworks that support both individuals and the organisation to do their best work. You’re confident operating autonomously, yet highly collaborative, and you’re motivated by working for a values-led organisation with a meaningful social impact.
You will bring:
A human-centred, person-focused approach to HR, balancing empathy with sound judgement and compliance;
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Psychology or a related discipline;
Strong end-to-end HR capability across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, performance, development and workforce planning;
Experience working in a small, startup or greenfield environment, with demonstrated success establishing policies, frameworks and systems from the ground up;
Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and partner across multiple state-based entities with varying needs and maturity; and
A strong alignment to organisational values and the confidence to act as a trusted advisor, coach and sounding board for leaders and employees alike.
Benefits and Culture
This is more than a role - it’s an opportunity to build something meaningful in an organisation where people, purpose and impact genuinely matter. You’ll step into a newly created position with the scope to shape how people are supported nationally, working in a highly collaborative and values-led environment that appreciates passion, authenticity, genuine care, and pragmatism in equal measure.
What’s on offer:
A genuinely hands-on, high-impact role, where you can design, build and embed frameworks that make a real difference;
A salary package of $120,000 – $125,000, plus above-statutory superannuation;
Salary packaging benefits to help maximise your take-home pay;
Additional leave entitlements, recognising the importance of rest, wellbeing and balance;
Opportunities for national travel, connecting with stakeholders and teams across state-based entities; and
An engaging, interactive role with exposure to stakeholders at all levels, alongside the opportunity to lead and deliver meaningful, organisation-wide projects.
