This 5-year maximum-term appointment, based in Brisbane, offers the opportunity to play an influential role in shaping the organisation’s digital future as it embarks on an ambitious transformation agenda.

As the IT Director – Learning & Teaching, you will be responsible for driving technology delivery excellence, uplifting team capability and building trusted relationships with senior academic and executive stakeholders. I am seeking an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in the higher education sector, a proven track record of delivering complex digital initiatives and the ability to lead meaningful organisational change.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a significant portfolio of student and academic-facing technology services, platforms and digital transformation initiatives;

• Drive improvements in project delivery, governance, accountability and operational performance, ensuring the successful delivery of complex technology programs;

• Build trusted relationships with senior academics, faculty leaders and executive stakeholders, aligning technology initiatives with institutional priorities;

• Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and service-focused culture;

• Play a key role in implementing a refreshed IT operating model, strengthening delivery capability and driving organisational change; and

• Champion service excellence and continuous improvement, building stakeholder confidence and delivering measurable business outcomes.

Experience required

• Extensive experience within the higher education sector is essential, with a strong understanding of university operations, academic environments and stakeholder complexities;

• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership position, ideally at Director level, with accountability for complex technology portfolios and multidisciplinary teams;

• Demonstrated success leading digital transformation, improving project delivery maturity and driving meaningful operational and cultural change;

• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the credibility to engage confidently with senior academics and executive leadership teams;

• Strong understanding of IT governance, operating models, portfolio management and complex technology service delivery; and

• An authentic, resilient and outcomes-focused leadership style, with the ability to navigate complexity, inspire teams and deliver measurable results.
