We’re partnering with CBAA (Community Broadcasting Association of Australia) to hire an IT Manager to take ownership of their technology environment.
This is a genuinely broad, hands-on role where you’ll sit across infrastructure, support, vendors, and day-to-day operations. It suits someone who enjoys being the go-to person, taking ownership, and improving what they inherit rather than just maintaining it.
CBAA is a purpose-driven organisation with a collaborative, down-to-earth culture, this isn’t a heavily layered corporate environment. You’ll have the autonomy to make decisions, work closely with the business, and help bring more structure and maturity to the IT function over time.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for keeping the environment running smoothly while also identifying areas for improvement. Day-to-day, that looks like:
Owning IT operations across infrastructure, systems, and end-user support;
Managing MSPs and external vendors – holding them accountable and getting the best out of them;
Acting as the escalation point for more complex issues when needed;
Overseeing core infrastructure including servers, networking, firewalls, and security;
Managing and supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory / Entra ID, and endpoint environments;
Improving processes, documentation, and general IT maturity (SOEs, asset registers, policies);
Working closely with internal stakeholders and translating technical concepts into plain English; and
Supporting ongoing uplift initiatives and contributing to the technology roadmap.
What we’re looking for
This role isn’t about deep specialisation – it’s about ownership, attitude, and breadth.
Experience in an IT Manager / IT Lead / Infrastructure Manager role;
Background working in smaller or mid-sized environments where you’ve had end-to-end responsibility;
Strong understanding of infrastructure (servers, networking, VPNs, Wi-Fi, security);
Experience across Microsoft 365 environments, identity & access management, and endpoint support;
Exposure to cyber security principles and governance frameworks;
Experience managing vendors or MSPs in a multi-supplier environment;
Comfortable being hands-on while also stepping back and overseeing the bigger picture;
Someone who is proactive, practical, and comfortable in an evolving environment; and
Strong communicator who can work across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Why this role
Real ownership of the IT environment;
Variety – you won’t be siloed;
Ability to make an impact and improve how things are done;
Supportive, non-corporate culture; and
Hybrid working.
If you’re someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, taking ownership, and being the person people rely on, this is a great opportunity to step into a well-rounded IT Manager role.
