Looking for your next challenge across IT operations, cloud and cyber security? This contract role offers the chance to lead a national technology environment while balancing hands-on technical problem-solving with strategic direction. It’s a high-impact position with an ASAP start, running for 3–6 months, with the option to apply for the permanent role if interested.
About the Role
Reporting to the CIO, you’ll oversee three key areas: IT Service Management, Infrastructure and Cloud Operations, and Information Security. You’ll guide a multi-skilled team, manage escalations, drive continuous improvement and uplift security maturity across the business. The environment is heavily cloud-focused, with GCP as the primary platform.
This is a role for someone who can switch easily between operational leadership, deep technical involvement, and senior stakeholder engagement.
In this role, you'll:
Lead daily operations across cloud platforms, infrastructure and end-user technologies;
Manage service desk performance, escalations and service quality;
Drive secure practices, monitoring, risk management and compliance uplift (ISO 27001 / SOC 2 aligned);
Oversee cloud engineering, DevOps workflows and platform optimisation;
Mentor and develop a diverse onshore and offshore team;
Improve processes, workflows and operational resilience; and
Manage key technology vendors and assess third-party service performance.
About You
You’ll bring:
Strong leadership across IT operations, cloud engineering and security;
Deep cloud experience (GCP ideal) and confidence working hands-on when needed;
Experience supporting compliance with recognised security standards;
Excellent judgement when prioritising operational issues, risks and escalations;
Ability to lead teams across multiple disciplines and locations; and
Experience working in a mid-sized commercial or professional services environment.
If you’re a capable IT leader who enjoys owning operations, uplifting security and getting hands-on when it counts, we’d love to hear from you.
