About the Role

u&u Recruitment Partners is seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join a well-established financial services organisation based in Melbourne CBD.
 
This permanent opportunity will see you lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering modern cloud-based data solutions across a large enterprise environment. You'll provide technical leadership while mentoring engineers, partnering with senior stakeholders and helping drive continuous improvement across the organisation's data platforms.
 
This is a leadership-first role, however you'll be expected to remain technically credible and able to guide engineering discussions across modern data technologies.
 
This role offers an immediate start and a hybrid working arrangement.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Engineers;

• Provide technical leadership across modern cloud data platforms;

• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives;

• Review engineering approaches and contribute to technical decision making;

• Drive engineering best practice and continuous improvement; and

• Support delivery of enterprise-scale data integration and platform initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Previous experience leading Data Engineering teams;

• Strong experience working with modern cloud data platforms, including Databricks;

• Strong understanding of enterprise data engineering principles;

• Experience working within financial services or another highly regulated environment;

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; and

• A passion for coaching, mentoring and developing engineers.
