Legal Assistant – Insurance Litigation | Melbourne CBD

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Legal Assistant to join a well-regarded Insurance Litigation team based in Melbourne CBD.

Supporting senior lawyers across a diverse insurance litigation practice, you will be involved in matters spanning public liability, product liability, personal injury and property damage. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced legal environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality support.

You’ll be joining a collaborative and high-performing team that values professionalism, initiative and strong client service.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to a busy team of lawyers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing monthly billing, WIP reports and pre-bills;

  • Assisting with debtor management processes;

  • Opening new matters and conducting conflict checks;

  • Managing electronic files and document systems;

  • Liaising with courts and external stakeholders;

  • Preparing briefs and court documentation;

  • Drafting, formatting and amending correspondence and legal documents;

  • Assisting with reporting requirements and general team administration; and

  • Supporting lawyers across a varied workload with competing deadlines

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Legal Assistant or Legal Administration role within a law firm or professional services environment;

  • Previous exposure to Insurance Litigation (highly regarded);

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively;

  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to your work;

  • A strong client service focus and the ability to build positive working relationships;

  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality;

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills; and

  • Experience with Aderant Expert and iManage will be viewed favourably.
