Job Details

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Legal Assistant to join one of Australia’s most highly regarded law firms.

This is a firm known for its exceptional culture and incredibly strong staff retention. Support staff rarely leave, and it’s easy to see why. You’ll be joining a polished, collaborative environment with beautiful offices, excellent benefits, flexibility and plenty of opportunity to continue developing your career.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, working closely with Partners and senior lawyers as part of an established practice support team.
The role
This is more than a traditional Legal Assistant position. You’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day management of a busy legal practice, with responsibilities including:

  • Diary and inbox management;

  • Billing, e-billing and financial administration;

  • Matter management and client reporting;

  • Preparing and formatting documents, correspondence and presentations;

  • Expense management and general practice administration;

  • Assisting with client and matter requirements;

  • Working closely with other Legal Assistants and business support teams; and

  • Identifying ways to improve processes and make the team run more efficiently.

About you
You’ll suit this opportunity if you’re an experienced Legal Assistant who enjoys being proactive and becoming a trusted part of the team you support.
**
Ideally, you’ll have
**

  • Previous Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, Practice Assistant or similar experience;

  • Experience within a law firm or professional services environment;

  • Strong billing and financial administration experience;

  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail;

  • Confidence managing competing priorities and working with senior stakeholders;

  • A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership; and

  • Strong systems skills and an interest in using technology to work more efficiently.

Why this role?
There is a lot to like about this opportunity:

  • Flexible working with 2 days working from home;

  • Beautiful Sydney CBD offices;

  • Excellent staff benefits and well-being initiatives;

  • A firm with an exceptionally low turnover of support staff;

  • Work closely with Partners and senior lawyers; and

  • High-quality training and career development.

This would be a particularly great opportunity for someone looking to step into a top-tier environment, or an experienced Legal Assistant wanting a role where they can take on more responsibility and become involved in the running of a practice.
