  • Meaningful work supporting a mission-driven organisation making a tangible social impact; and

  • Supportive, values-led legal team with strong leadership and collaboration.

Our Client

Our client is a purpose-led organisation providing residential and therapeutic care to young people across Australia. With operations in multiple states and a workforce dedicated to making a positive social impact, the business is highly regulated, people-focused, and constantly evolving. The organisation’s legal function plays a critical role in supporting leadership decision-making, managing risk and enabling effective workforce strategies. The legal team is respected as a trusted advisor across the business, working closely with HR and executive stakeholders.

The Role

Working as part of a small and collegiate legal team, the role has a strong focus on industrial and employee relations, with scope across both strategic and operational matters. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will:

  • Provide senior-level ER and IR advice to executives, HR and operations;

  • Lead complex IR matters including enterprise agreement interpretation, disputes and representation before the Fair Work Commission and related bodies;

  • Draft and review employment-related correspondence, contracts, policies and procedures;

  • Develop and implement IR strategies aligned to organisational values and people priorities;

  • Partner closely with HR to identify trends, mitigate risk and support cultural improvement initiatives;

  • Assist the General Counsel on broader legal matters as required, including non-IR work.

About You

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • 6+ years’ post-admission experience with a strong focus on industrial and employee relations;

  • Demonstrated experience advocating before the Fair Work Commission and other industrial tribunals;

  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial judgement;

  • Experience developing policies, templates and frameworks to support compliant and effective people practices;

  • A collaborative style and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups; and

  • In-house experience is highly regarded, but not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IR lawyer seeking a senior in-house role where your expertise will directly influence organisational outcomes and support meaningful work.
