As part of its continued commitment to operational excellence and future growth, Fleetwood is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead its Queensland manufacturing operation. This highly visible leadership position will drive performance across one primary site while contributing to broader strategic initiatives, workforce alignment, and growth levers.
 
Your New Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing, this senior leadership role is based at Crestmead and leads a workforce of approximately 27–30 full time employees and up to 100 subcontractors. You will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing outcomes supporting the delivery of high valued, high-end, and highly engineered complex modular building projects for industries spanning; education, mining, government and community focused accommodation.

Working closely with the Queensland General Manager, Construction Manager, Project Managers, and broader operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in aligning manufacturing capability with project delivery requirements while driving continuous improvement across all Queensland operations.

Your key deliverables will include:

  • Providing leadership and operational oversight across one primary Queensland manufacturing site and holding yards;

  • Managing direct employees, subcontractors, and site leadership teams to achieve operational objectives;

  • Driving safety performance and ensuring compliance across high-risk manufacturing environments;

  • Leading manufacturing delivery for complex modular building projects ensuring on-time and in-full project completion;

  • Ability to manage busy pipeline delivery, with transformation;

  • Managing industrial and employee relations within a fully unionised environment operating under an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA);

  • Standardising manufacturing processes, KPIs, reporting frameworks, and operating rhythms across the site;

  • Implementing lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and productivity enhancement initiatives;

  • Reviewing and optimising labour models, workforce planning, and subcontractor utilisation to improve operational efficiency and cost performance;

  • Collaborating closely with sales, estimating, design, construction, and project delivery teams to ensure manufacturing alignment with customer commitments;

  • Supporting cultural transformation, workforce engagement, and organisational alignment;

  • Driving operational excellence through root cause analysis, data-driven decision making, and sustainable process improvements; and

  • Contributing to broader business diversification initiatives while maintaining strong performance across core education, mining, government and community focused accommodation sector projects.

Your Background:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading site manufacturing operations within complex manufacturing environments;

  • A strong technical manufacturing background gained within sectors such as FMCG, OR automotive with oversight of large teams_;_

  • Proven capability operating within unionised environments and managing Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, industrial relations, and workforce engagement;

  • Extensive experience driving operational excellence, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and productivity enhancement programs;

  • Experience leading organisational change, site transformations, restructures, or operational improvement programs;

  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, with experience developing supervisors, frontline leaders, apprentices, and manufacturing teams;

  • A strong safety leadership track record within high-risk manufacturing environments;

  • Sound commercial acumen with an understanding of manufacturing cost drivers, productivity metrics, labour utilisation, inventory management, and margin performance;

  • Experience managing blended workforces comprising both direct employees and subcontractor resources;

  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as, and if required.
