Are you an experienced Rehabilitation or Workers Compensation professional looking for an opportunity to take your case management skills into a more mobile, face-to-face role?

Our client is a leading organisation within the workers compensation and injury management sector and is seeking a Rehabilitation & Return to Work Specialist to support clients with more complex workers compensation claims.

This is a highly relationship-focused role where you will work directly with workers, employers, medical professionals and other key stakeholders to achieve positive recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

About the Role

This is a mobile, face-to-face case management position, with regular travel to client and employer sites across Coffs Harbour, Macquarie, Grafton and surrounding areas.

You will manage a portfolio of workers compensation clients, providing personalised support throughout their recovery and return-to-work journey. Approximately 8 client or employer visits per week can be expected, depending on caseload and individual requirements.

The role may require travel of up to approximately 3 hours each way, providing an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, building relationships in the community and managing a varied caseload.

A fleet vehicle can be provided, along with a laptop, with travel and fuel expenses covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of workers compensation clients, particularly those with more complex claims;

  • Support workers throughout their recovery and return-to-work journey;

  • Conduct regular face-to-face visits with workers and employers at worksites, medical clinics and other relevant locations;

  • Develop effective return-to-work plans and coordinate appropriate rehabilitation, services and support;

  • Collaborate with doctors, employers, workers and other stakeholders to establish and achieve return-to-work goals;

  • Lead difficult conversations and confidently manage conflict, negotiation and competing expectations;

  • Provide clear and accurate information regarding claims, entitlements, obligations and responsibilities;

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with workers, employers, medical professionals and internal stakeholders;

  • Identify emerging risks and ensure appropriate escalation and compliance with relevant legislation and organisational requirements; and

  • Work collaboratively with case management and injury management specialists to achieve positive claims outcomes.

About You

We are looking for a resilient, solutions-focused professional who is confident managing complex situations and enjoys working directly with people.

Ideally, you will have

  • A background in rehabilitation, workers compensation, or ideally both;

  • Experience managing workers compensation claims and supporting workers through recovery and return-to-work processes;

  • Strong planning, organisation and case management skills;

  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to lead conversations with doctors, workers, employers and other stakeholders;

  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities;

  • The ability to manage sensitive and difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism;

  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to case management;

  • The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively within a mobile role;

  • A strong customer service focus and commitment to achieving positive outcomes; and

  • A full Australian driver's licence.

Tertiary qualifications or studies in Allied Health, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Nursing, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling or Exercise Science, will be highly regarded.

Location & Travel

This is a genuinely mobile role covering Coffs Harbour, Macquarie, Grafton and surrounding areas.

  • Maximum travel requirement of approximately 3 hours each way;

  • Approximately 8 client/employer visits per week, depending on caseload;

  • Fleet vehicle available;

  • Laptop provided;

  • Travel and fuel expenses covered; and

  • Company vehicle has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

Working Hours

Core working hours are 8:20am–5:00pm, with flexibility for earlier starts when required to accommodate client and business needs.

What’s on Offer?

  • 18-month maximum-term contract with potential for extension;

  • Potential internal opportunities at the conclusion of the contract;

  • $90,000–$100,000 + superannuation;

  • Fleet vehicle, laptop and travel expenses provided;

  • Opportunity to work in a highly autonomous, mobile environment;

  • Meaningful opportunity to support workers through complex recovery and return-to-work journeys;

  • Excellent opportunity for an experienced rehabilitation professional to broaden their workers compensation case management experience; and

  • Potential pathway for someone looking to transition into a mobile case management role or progress their career within workers compensation.
