About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced National Field Sales Manager to lead a high-performing field sales team within a well-established global consumer goods organisation. This role is responsible for shaping and executing the national field sales strategy, driving sales performance, and ensuring exceptional brand representation across key retail partners.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will oversee field execution, retailer training, and the continuous improvement of sales capability across all territories. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong commercial acumen, a strategic mindset, and the ability to mobilise and influence a geographically dispersed team. Regular travel will be required to support team development and maintain strong customer engagement in-store.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and manage a national field sales team to achieve sales targets and deliver consistent in-store execution;

  • Develop and implement the national field sales strategy, ensuring alignment with commercial and marketing priorities;

  • Analyse sales data and market insights to optimise territory performance, resource allocation, and revenue growth;

  • Build strong relationships with key retail partners while overseeing merchandising standards and promotional execution;

  • Design and deliver retailer and field team training to enhance product knowledge and selling capability;

  • Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates to senior management;

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing capability development within the field sales team; and

  • Conduct regular in-store visits to support team performance, gather feedback, and ensure brand consistency.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in national or senior field sales leadership within consumer goods or a similar retail-focused environment;

  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing and motivating field-based teams;

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capability;

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate insights into action;

  • Experience working in the Australian retail landscape, ideally within consumer goods or related categories;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (preferred);

  • High level of commercial acumen and capability in sales forecasting and planning; and

  • Ability to travel frequently across Australia.
