We’re partnering with a well-established boutique law firm in Sydney CBD who are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to step in and keep the office running smoothly during a period of change.

This is a 6-month contract to start, with the view to permanency. They need someone available immediately, who can confidently take ownership of the day-to-day operations from day one.

This is a hands-on role with real responsibility, particularly across finance and payroll, which is a critical part of the position.

What’s in it for you:

  • $150,000 plus super dependent on experience;

  • 6-month contract with a pathway to permanency;

  • Senior role working closely with the Directors;

  • 5 days in the office; and

  • Immediate start required.

The role:

Reporting directly to the Directors, you’ll be the go-to person for how the office operates day to day. You’ll oversee a capable support team of 3 EAs and 4 Paralegals, manage workflows, improve processes, and make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Your day to day will include:

  • Keeping the office running smoothly, from facilities and suppliers through to reception and meetings;

  • Leading the EA team, balancing workloads and improving how the team supports the lawyers;

  • Overseeing paralegal administrative workflows and ensuring processes are followed;

  • Owning payroll and overseeing key finance processes, this part of the role is essential;

  • Acting as the internal champion for practice management and document management systems;

  • Supporting the Directors with reporting, preparation for meetings and operational insights;

  • Identifying smarter and more efficient ways of working and implementing improvements;

  • Supporting HR, Finance and IT with local projects and change initiatives; and

  • Contributing to culture, engagement and internal communication.

About you:

This role will suit someone who enjoys being across the detail but can also step back and look at the bigger picture. You’re organised, practical, approachable, and comfortable leading a team.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • 5 plus years’ experience in an Operations Manager role within a law firm or professional services environment;

  • Strong finance and payroll experience, this is very important for this role;

  • Experience managing and developing admin and support teams;

  • Confidence using legal practice management systems such as LEAP, Affinity or NetDocuments;

  • A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to juggle competing priorities; and

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
