Senior Operational Technology (OT) Systems Architect
Brisbane | 12 month+ contract opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Operational Technology (OT) Systems Architect to join a critical infrastructure environment where safety, reliability and operational resilience are paramount.

This role is ideal for someone who has grown their career from a hands-on infrastructure or systems engineering background into architecture. You'll be responsible for designing and evolving Operational Technology solutions while remaining close enough to the technology to provide technical guidance and occasional Level 3 support when required.

We're looking for someone who understands how Operational Technology environments operate, appreciates the importance of safety and availability and can design practical solutions that work in live operational environments.

What you'll be doing

• Design and develop architecture for Operational Technology server infrastructure and core software platforms;

• Produce high-quality solution and infrastructure designs for new projects and enhancements;

• Review existing OT environments and recommend improvements to reliability, resilience and performance;

• Work closely with project teams and stakeholders to understand operational requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions;

• Ensure architecture aligns with cyber security principles, including IEC62443 and OT system hardening standards;

• Provide architectural governance across multiple OT initiatives;

• Support and mentor technical teams on architectural decisions and best practice;

• Assist with proactive maintenance and lifecycle planning of OT infrastructure; and

• Provide Level 3 technical support for complex infrastructure issues where architectural expertise is required.

What we're looking for

You'll bring a combination of architecture capability and real-world engineering experience, including:

• Strong experience designing infrastructure within Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control Systems (ICS) environments;

• A solid understanding of safety-critical environments where system availability and operational continuity are essential;

• Previous hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or similar technical role;

• The ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide third-line technical support when required;

• Experience with Windows Server and Linux environments;

• Strong knowledge of VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualisation platforms;

• Experience designing highly available server and hosting environments;

• Good understanding of OT cyber security principles, including IEC62443 and vendor hardening practices;

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills; and

• Experience producing architecture documentation, solution designs and technical standards.

• Utilities;

• Energy;

• Manufacturing;

• Water;

• Ports;

• Oil & Gas; and

• Other critical infrastructure environments.
