An opportunity exists for an experienced Payroll professional to step into a hands-on leadership role within a large, complex organisation. This position will suit a technically strong Payroll Supervisor or Team Leader who enjoys balancing operational delivery with people leadership, process improvement and stakeholder engagement.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the National Payroll Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-volume payroll function, ensuring accurate and compliant processing across multiple pay cycles (fortnightly and monthly). You will lead and support payroll staff, act as a key escalation point, and drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end processing of multiple payrolls;
Ensure compliance with STP, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, Child Support and statutory obligations;
Review payroll data, identify variances and implement corrective action;
Oversee leave, termination payments, redundancies and workers compensation processing;
Support system enhancements and process optimisation initiatives;
Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across People Services, IT and Finance;
Monitor adherence to payroll policies, procedures and legislative requirements; and
Foster a high-performance, service-focused team culture.
About You
You bring 5–10+ years’ payroll experience within a medium to large organisation, including demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience. You are confident managing competing deadlines, resolving complex payroll matters and driving system or process improvements.
Your background will include:
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and leave practices;
Experience with high-volume payroll processing and compliance reporting;
Advanced Microsoft Excel capability with strong analytical skills;
Exposure to systems such as Kronos WFD, SAP ECP and/or SuccessFactors (advantageous);
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate; and
Relevant tertiary qualifications (Degree, Diploma or Cert IV in Payroll/Finance) will be highly regarded.
