An opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a well-established organisation operating within a complex industrial environment. This is an initial 6-month temporary assignment with a strong likelihood of extension and potential permanency for the right candidate.
With the payroll team currently focused on a major system implementation project, this role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth delivery of payroll operations during a critical period of change.
The Role
You will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 800 employees across multiple pay cycles and business units. This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical payroll expertise and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end payroll processing across weekly and monthly payrolls;
Interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements and Awards;
Processing payroll tax, superannuation, leave and termination payments;
Payroll reconciliations and month-end activities;
Journal posting and payroll reporting;
Managing payroll queries and ensuring legislative compliance; and
Supporting payroll operations during a system implementation project.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation;
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation and payroll tax across multiple states;
Experience working with complex Awards and Enterprise Agreements;
Previous experience using Preceda (essential);
Experience for payroll journals;
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
The ability to work autonomously and quickly become a valued member of the team; and
Experience within mining, manufacturing, industrial or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded.
