About the opportunity

u&u Recruitment Partners is recruiting a PO3 Financial Accountant for a six/twelve-month fixed-term contract, employed directly by a Queensland Government organisation.

Based in central Mackay, this full-time role is 100% office based, with a salary starting from $104,944 per annum plus superannuation.

Reporting to the Revenue and Treasury Manager, you will support a high-volume financial accounting function across a range of healthcare revenue streams. This is an opportunity to apply your accounting expertise to complex reconciliations, revenue recognition and financial reporting.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing bank reconciliations across a high volume of transactions;

  • Supporting cashier, banking and receipting functions, including daily cash counts;

  • Preparing cashflow forecasts and month-end reports;

  • Managing revenue recognition in accordance with AASB 15 and AASB 1058;

  • Reconciling and reporting on revenue from pharmacy payments, aged-care contributions, private patients, Medicare-ineligible patients and other services; and

  • Maintaining financial controls, supporting audits and improving accounting processes.

There may be occasional travel to rural facilities to conduct cash counts and provide training.

About you

You will hold a relevant tertiary accounting degree and ideally have around five years of relevant accounting experience.

You will also offer:

  • Sound knowledge of AASB 15 and AASB 1058, with practical experience in revenue recognition;

  • Experience managing complex reconciliations and high-volume accounting or billing processes;

  • Advanced Excel skills, with SAP S/4HANA experience highly desirable;

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to support colleagues with financial processes; and

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.

Health or Queensland Government experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with experience in private healthcare, medical practices or other high-volume billing environments are encouraged to apply.
