u&u Recruitment is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Policy Advisors, Senior Policy Officers and Senior Policy Advisors for upcoming and current opportunities across Queensland Government.
We are interested in speaking with policy professionals from AO5 through to SO3 level who are open to permanent, fixed-term or contract opportunities based in the Brisbane CBD.
These roles may suit candidates with experience across policy development, legislative reform, Cabinet and parliamentary processes, Ministerial and executive briefing, stakeholder engagement, program policy, strategic policy, regulatory policy or service delivery reform.
About the opportunities
We are regularly engaged to support Queensland Government departments, agencies and offices with policy recruitment across a broad range of portfolios.
Opportunities may include:
Policy Officer / Senior Policy Officer roles;
Principal Policy Officer roles;
Senior Policy Advisor roles;
Ministerial or executive advisory roles;
Strategic policy and reform roles;
Legislative and regulatory policy roles;
Cabinet, parliamentary and briefing-focused roles; and
Program policy, service delivery and implementation policy roles.
Roles may be offered on a permanent, fixed-term or contract basis, with remuneration aligned to classification and experience.
What we are looking for
We are keen to hear from policy professionals who can demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas:
Developing, analysing and advising on complex policy matters;
Preparing high-quality briefs, submissions, reports, correspondence and policy papers;
Supporting Cabinet, parliamentary, budget or estimates processes;
Interpreting legislation, directives, policy frameworks or regulatory requirements;
Undertaking research, consultation and options analysis;
Leading or contributing to legislative reform or policy implementation;
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives;
Working in sensitive, high-profile or fast-paced government environments; and
Providing clear, balanced and evidence-based advice to decision-makers.
About You
You may be an experienced Queensland Government policy professional, or you may bring transferable policy experience from another jurisdiction, statutory authority, regulator, peak body, consultancy, not-for-profit, research, advocacy or complex service delivery environment.
You will ideally bring:
Strong written communication and briefing skills;
Sound judgement and the ability to work with discretion;
Strong stakeholder engagement and consultation capability;
Experience managing competing priorities and deadlines;
An understanding of government decision-making processes;
The ability to translate complex information into practical advice; and
A genuine interest in contributing to public sector outcomes in Queensland.
Location and work arrangements
Most opportunities will be based in the Brisbane CBD, with work arrangements varying depending on the department, role and contract type. Some roles may offer hybrid flexibility, while others may require a higher level of office-based attendance due to stakeholder, Cabinet, Ministerial or operational requirements.
