You will join a workers’ compensation regulatory function supporting a priority Fraud Action Plan, working with the state’s workers’ compensation insurer, insurers and other key stakeholders to strengthen fraud prevention, detection and response.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Officer for a temporary contract based in Brisbane CBD.

This is an opportunity to take a lead role in delivering a priority Fraud Action Plan, working closely with senior leaders, the workers’ compensation insurer, subject matter experts and other internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director, Workers’ Compensation Investigations and Prosecution Services, you will provide project leadership across planning, governance, stakeholder coordination and delivery.

The role will suit a senior project professional who can quickly understand complex subject matter, build trusted relationships, bring structure to competing priorities and drive outcomes in a regulatory environment.

As the Principal Project Officer, you will:

• Lead project planning, governance, milestones, risks, dependencies and reporting;

• Coordinate multiple workstreams and stakeholders to progress key Fraud Action Plan deliverables;

• Develop a scheme-wide fraud framework, including measures and performance metrics;

• Lead fraud education and awareness initiatives and develop an insurer fraud toolkit;

• Monitor and evaluate targeted compliance initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement;

• Lead working groups and stakeholder forums, bringing subject matter experts together to achieve outcomes;

• Provide secretariat support to the Fraud Taskforce, including meeting papers, minutes, actions and follow-up;

• Prepare high-quality executive briefs, reports, governance papers and project documentation;

• Analyse research, data, trends and stakeholder feedback to support evidence-based recommendations;

• Monitor delivery, identify risks and provide clear updates to senior stakeholders; and

• Support change and the adoption of project outcomes across the workers’ compensation scheme.

Required Experience

We are seeking an experienced project professional with a strong track record delivering complex initiatives in a government, regulatory or similarly complex environment.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience managing complex projects or programs from development through to delivery;

• Strong project planning, governance, risk management, reporting and delivery capability;

• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and interdependent workstreams;

• Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills;

• Experience facilitating working groups, workshops or stakeholder forums;

• Excellent written communication skills, including executive briefs, reports and governance papers;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an evidence-based approach to decision making;

• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and drive outcomes through influence; and

• Ability to quickly understand complex regulatory, policy or operational environments.

Highly regarded:

• Queensland Government or public sector experience;

• Regulatory, compliance, policy, enforcement or integrity experience;

• Workers’ compensation, insurance or fraud-related experience; and

• Experience delivering projects involving legislative or regulatory requirements.
