Product Manager | Consumer Goods
This is a Product Manager role for someone who wants real ownership of a category, not just responsibility for keeping existing products ticking along.
You'll join a global consumer goods business with an ambitious growth plan and take ownership of one of its most innovative product categories. The portfolio is already worth around $10m locally, with significant headroom for growth and new products already in the pipeline.
The products are designed around changing consumer lifestyles, with innovation focused on areas including smaller households and increasingly mobile consumers. You'll be encouraged to become a genuine category expert - understanding the customer, competitors and products inside out.
The opportunity
Working within a lean, ambitious marketing team, you'll have end-to-end responsibility for your product portfolio, from strategy and innovation through to launch, go-to-market and ongoing commercial performance.
You'll identify market opportunities, shape the product road map and work with international teams to bring new products into the Australian market. A major new launch is already planned for next month, with plenty more opportunity to build the category from there.
This is also a commercially accountable role. You'll manage the P&L for your category, including pricing, investment, margin and marketing spend, while using consumer and category insights to identify where the next growth opportunity sits.
What you'll be doing
Owning the product lifecycle from market opportunity and concept through to launch;
Developing annual product and marketing plans to drive revenue, margin and market share;
Managing category P&L, pricing, investment and performance;
Building go-to-market strategies across retail, digital and other channels;
Using consumer, competitor and market insights to identify new opportunities;
Partnering with Sales, Digital and Trade Marketing to execute launches;
Developing retailer-specific launch and activation plans; and
Working with international teams on future innovation and portfolio development.
About you
You'll bring 3+ years' experience across product management, brand management or a closely related marketing role within consumer goods or FMCG.
You'll be commercially minded and comfortable owning a P&L, but equally interested in the consumer - why they buy, how they use products and where the category could go next.
This is a hands-on team, so you'll need to be comfortable moving between strategy and execution, working autonomously and taking responsibility for getting things done.
Why this role?
You'll be joining a small marketing team where your work is highly visible and the growth of your category genuinely sits in your hands.
There's significant ambition for the portfolio, a strong pipeline of innovation and the opportunity to build your career as the business grows. You'll also have structured training and annual development conversations to support your progression.
And one of the better perks of working in product: you'll actually get the products to take home, use and understand for yourself. The expectation is that you become the expert on what you're selling — not someone who only knows it from a PowerPoint deck.
If you're looking for a Product Manager role with commercial ownership, innovation and plenty of room to grow, we'd love to hear from you!
