About the role
This is a 6-month FTC contract and will provide strategic and operational leadership across recruitment, onboarding and training functions throughout NSW. Leading a high-performing team, you will ensure workforce requirements are translated into effective attraction, selection, onboarding and capability development strategies that support operational performance, safety and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver state-wide recruitment strategies aligned with workforce planning, operational growth and business priorities;
Build and maintain strong talent pipelines to ensure critical workforce needs are met across multiple locations;
Oversee the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, from attraction and assessment through to onboarding and commencement;
Partner with operational leaders to forecast workforce demand and coordinate targeted recruitment campaigns;
Monitor recruitment performance metrics, candidate conversion rates and pipeline activity to drive continuous improvement;
Lead and manage induction, training and competency programs to ensure employees are workforce-ready and compliant;
Oversee trainee progress, competency assessments and workforce readiness while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality outcomes;
Review, enhance and implement training programs that meet operational, legislative and regulatory requirements;
Lead, coach and develop a team of 8 recruitment professionals and trainers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement;
Establish and maintain recruitment, onboarding and training governance frameworks, processes and reporting standards;
Analyse workforce and training data to identify trends, mitigate risks and improve workforce outcomes;
Prepare executive reports, workforce forecasts and recommendations to support strategic decision-making; and
Manage relationships with external recruitment, medical and training providers to ensure service excellence and value for money.
About You
Demonstrated leadership experience in high-volume recruitment, operational training or workforce capability within a complex, multi-site environment;
Proven ability to develop recruitment and training strategies and translate workforce demand into practical delivery plans;
Strong people leadership capability, including coaching direct reports and influencing indirect or functional teams;
Sound understanding of fair recruitment, employment compliance, privacy, record-keeping and workplace health and safety obligations;
Experience working within a blue-collar, frontline or operational workforce environment, preferably within transport or another safety-critical industry; and
Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Business or a related discipline is desirable
