We are a well-established manufacturing and services business in Western Melbourne entering an exciting new phase of growth. Following a recent change in ownership, the business is transitioning from a founder-led finance model to a more structured, standalone finance function.

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant who enjoys full ownership of day-to-day finance, takes pride in clean and accurate records, and can provide reliable reporting to both operational leaders and a broader group finance team.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with a group finance team, you will be responsible for the entire finance function - from transactional processing through to month-end reporting, compliance and process improvement.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also lifting standards and building fit-for-purpose financial controls in a growing SME environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

End-to-end finance operations

• Accounts payable and receivable;

• Bank and credit card reconciliations;

• Payroll, superannuation, PAYG and entitlements;

• BAS preparation and statutory compliance;

• Maintaining a clean, accurate general ledger in MYOB; and

• Managing debtor collections and supplier relationships.

Month-end and reporting

• Complete month-end close within 5–7 business days;

• Prepare P&L, balance sheet and supporting reconciliations;

• Provide clear commentary on results and key variances;

• Deliver reporting packs in line with group requirements; and

• Support external accountants at year-end.

Controls, processes and business support

• Establish practical finance controls and approval workflows;

• Document and streamline finance processes;

• Improve MYOB structures and reporting accuracy;

• Partner closely with the General Manager and operational team; and

• Respond to finance queries from staff and technicians.

(Note: budgeting and forecasting are not core responsibilities in this role.)

About You:

You are a practical, hands-on finance professional who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle and improving how things work - without overcomplicating them.

You’ll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience in end-to-end accounting roles;

• Strong hands-on MYOB experience (Essentials or AccountRight);

• Solid understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, payroll and BAS;

• Experience in a small–medium business, ideally services or trades; and

• Confidence running a finance function with minimal supervision.

Nice to have:

• Experience supporting a founder-led business through transition; and

• CA or CPA qualification (not essential).
