We’re partnering with a well-known Australian streaming platform that’s scaling multiple consumer-facing products across web and TV. They’re investing heavily in frontend capability and are looking for senior, product-minded frontend engineers who enjoy solving real platform problems, not just building UI.

This is a hands-on delivery role in a team that values clarity of thinking, reliability, and pragmatic engineering.

This is a 6-month contract with likely extensions – highly competitive daily rates. 
 
What You’ll Be Working On

• Building and evolving large-scale React + TypeScript applications;

• Working with complex data flows, async state, and real-world edge cases;

• Integrating with APIs, streaming services, and platform systems;

• Improving reliability, performance, and user experience in production; and

• Collaborating closely with product, backend, and platform engineers.

This is not a greenfield toy app, you’ll be working on software used by hundreds of thousands (or millions) of users. 
 
What They’re Looking For

You’ll likely be a strong fit if you have:

• Solid commercial experience building complex React applications;

• Strong TypeScript fundamentals;

• Experience dealing with:

  • async data;

  • caching / invalidation;

  • loading, empty, and error states; and

  • real production edge cases.

• A track record of shipping and supporting consumer products; and

• The ability to explain why you structured something a certain way.

Tooling matters less than how you think - Redux, React Query, SWR, Zustand, etc. are all fine if used well. 
 
What Will Set You Apart

• Experience in streaming, media, fintech, or large consumer platforms;

• Evidence of platform thinking, not just feature delivery;

• Comfort working in ambiguous environments and making trade-offs; and

• Willingness to go slightly beyond the brief to build something robust.

What This Role Is Not

• Not a design-system-only role;

• Not a UI-polish or pixel-perfect build; and

• Not a “just implement the ticket” environment.

This team values engineers who think about long-term maintainability and real-world behaviour. 
 
Interview Process

• Initial technical discussion (problem-solving focused); and

• Practical coding exercise (designed to reflect real production work, unless active GitHub available).

If you’re a senior frontend engineer who enjoys building serious products, not just nice demos, this will be a great fit.
