Senior IT Project Manager

12-Month Fixed Term Contract | Hybrid | Education Sector

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join a leading organisation within the education sector on a 12-month fixed term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a major technology implementation supporting business expansion, with responsibility across infrastructure, applications, integrations, security, end user technology and operational readiness.

About the role

You will take ownership of projects end-to-end, working across planning, procurement, design, implementation, testing, go-live and transition into business-as-usual operations.

You will work closely with senior business and IT stakeholders, vendors and technical teams to coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams and ensure technology solutions are delivered within agreed scope, budget, timelines and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead complex IT implementation projects from initiation through to delivery and transition;

• Manage concurrent workstreams across infrastructure, applications, networking, security and end user technology;

• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, budgets, risks, dependencies and governance;

• Coordinate vendors, procurement activities and delivery partners;

• Manage project risks, issues, changes and dependencies;

• Engage with senior stakeholders and provide clear executive-level reporting;

• Coordinate testing, go-live readiness, service transition and operational handover;

• Ensure technology solutions meet security, privacy, compliance and operational requirements; and

• Support additional technology and transformation initiatives across the broader IT portfolio.

About you

We are looking for an experienced IT Project Manager with a strong track record delivering complex technology implementations.

You will ideally bring:

• Strong end-to-end IT project management experience;

• Experience across infrastructure, applications, integrations and operational readiness;

• A solid understanding of modern IT environments including networking, cloud, SaaS, identity and end user computing;

• Experience managing budgets, vendors, procurement and commercial engagements;

• Strong risk, issue, dependency and change management skills;

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including at Executive level;

• Experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams in a time-critical environment; and

• Experience working across Waterfall, Agile or hybrid delivery environments.

Experience within higher education, vocational education or another regulated environment would be highly regarded, as would experience delivering technology projects associated with business expansion or greenfield environments.
